September Update

team@eighthats.com 23 October, 2025

August and September were busy months. The staff did their best to engage the students in fun educational activities. The students were able to take full advantage of the boardgames and puzzles the library received in May.

Under the direction of one of the staff members, the children participated in a fun sensory project. They created beautiful clay models outdoors.

The library also hosted a one-day Vacation Bible School by Pastors, Julie and Vincent Mbalangu the first weekend of September. The students that attended had a lot of fun, learned new songs and listened to a Bible lesson. We’re grateful to the Mbalangus for the time they spent with the students.

Busesa Children’s Library also received twelve new computers with free internet access from Uganda Communication Commission. We’ve also received books through partnership with Community Libraries Associations of Uganda (COLAU). This has certainly bolstered our services to the community.

The reading program at the new Nawangisa Library continues steadily. With the growing number of participants, the need for more staff members is evident.

Additionally, this site has no power source, thereby limiting opening hours and services currently. Acquiring solar power at this location will be a dream come true! We can then avail computer services to this rural community.

Rehearsals for the music program are also under way with an average of eight students per session. The participants meet four times a week.

Hope Children’s Clinic is bursting at the seams as new patient encounters increase. We installed a tent on the grounds to help with the overflow. This is only a temporary solution. The Foundation is actively looking for land and financial resources for the needed expansion.
