On Monday, December 19th, 2022, the Kitakule Foundation sponsored an all-ages Christmas celebration at Busesa Mixed Primary School. In the past, the event was held at the Busesa Community Library, but the venue change allowed more community members to join in the festivities. As early as 10 am, children made their way to the celebration grounds wearing colorful ribbons and t-shirts provided by the Kitakule Foundation. The foundation provided cake, sweets(candy), and lunch for the children to enjoy while participating in the celebration. The day’s activities included face painting, a bouncy house, and games, followed by musical and poetic performances. The event’s performers were children who frequent the Busesa Community Library, many of whom are part of the new music project, The Busoga Children Orchestra. The orchestra artfully blended familiar local and foreign music while playing traditional and Western instruments. The children thoroughly impressed the celebration’s attendees, who gathered beneath white tents surrounding the stage as the performance went on into the night.
Sarah Kitakule and Dr. Moses Kitakule, two directors of the Kitakule Foundation, addressed the crowd on behalf of the organization and the Kitakule family. They thanked parents for bringing their children to the library, enhancing their education, and allowing the foundation to further its mission of “Promoting Education and Health in Rural Communities.” Dr. Moses Kitakule also urged the attendees to take the initiative in transforming and growing their community. He suggested that people find inspiration in the confidence displayed by the vibrant, young performers. Furthermore, the Kitakule Foundation directors credited their faith and trust in Jesus Christ for the success of the organization and growth in the Busesa community.
The Headmistress of Busesa Mixed Primary School thanked the Kitakule Foundation for their continuing contribution to education and implored parents to continue supporting the school. The Kitakule Foundation is grateful for the enduring support of the Busesa community in its mission to inspire the next generation of scholars and leaders.
